Queensland pine borer

Scientific name: Calymmaderus incisus

This species is native to Queensland and is a pest of hoop pine timbers. Its damage is similar to that of the furniture beetle, but the two species are morphologically different. The Queensland pine beetle is about 3 mm long with a dark and shiny round body, and 3 segmented club-like antennae. The larvae look similar to that of the furniture beetle and often require a specialist for identification.
