Scientific name: Pediculus humanus humanus

Identification:
Egg/Nit: White or yellowish brown in colour and oval in shape. They might not be seen on the skin but rather in the seams of clothing. They hatch within 1–2 weels.
Adult: About the size of a sesame seed (~3 mm). Tan to greyish white in colour. Females are typically bigger than males.
Diagnosis:
- Body lice and nits are large enough to be seen by the naked eye but a magnifying lens can be helpful.
- Look for eggs or crawling lice in the seams of clothing.
- Look for body lice crawling or feeding on the skin
