Scientific name: Chrysomya rufifacies

Distribution
Native to Australia, but has a worldwide distribution.
Identification:
Adults are 6.0–12 mm and are robust, metallic green in colour with a distinct blue hue when seen under bright sunlight. They have big red eyes.
Eggs are about 1.0 mm long and are laid in loose batches of 50 to 200 eggs. The e eggs can hatch within 8 hours depending on environmental factors.
Larvae are about 14.0 mm long and are easily identified with sharp, fleshy spines running down their bodies.
Pupae are 7.2–11.5 mm in length. The pupal stage takes 3 days at 29 ℃.
