Distribution

Throughout Australia, excluding Tasmania.

Identification

19–25 mm in size, making it the largest bee in Australia. Females have a black, shiny, hairless abdomen and a bright yellow thorax, usually with a black hairless spot in the middle. Males are covered in soft golden hairs.
