Scientific name: Hadrobregmus australiensis

Identification
Adult: The beetle is 6–8 mm in length, dark brown and the head is partly concealed when viewed from above. It makes an exit hole around 2.5–3.0 mm in diameter.
Larvae: The larvae of this beetle resemble furniture beetle larvae, but are larger in size.
When infested wood is opened, the pupal chambers are darker than the surrounding wood and are smooth on the inside.
Behaviour
This insect is often found in softwood flooring. It attacks moist and decaying timber, usually in subfloor areas of the building. It also attacks hardwood bearers and joists.
