Brown house ant or Darwin’s ant

Distribution
Endemic to Australia, and is usually found in coastal areas.
Nesting site
They nest in soil, under rocks, rotten logs, or sometimes in abandoned nests of other ants.

Identification
Worker ants are 2-3 mm in length and are monomorphic, meaning they do not have varying sizes. The head is dark brown and the body is a lighter brown. This species looks similar to the Argentine ant.
Food Preference
They are attracted to many sugary foods like jam, honey, cakes, etc. They are also attracted to honeydew, sap, and fruit.
Safety Risk
Incapable of stinging and does not have a strong bite.
