Identification
Adults: 2.0–3.0 mm, parallel-sided, slender, dorsoventrally flat, and yellowish-brown in colour. Eyes are crescent-shaped from the side. The antennae have a distinct 5-segment club, where the final segment is narrower than the one before it.
Larvae: elateriform.
Life Cycle
At optimum conditions of 35 ℃ temperature and 85% relative humidity, the life cycle will be completed in 22 days. The eggs are laid in commodities. The larvae are mobile and feed externally.

Dried materials from animals and plants, especially cereal and grains.
Economic importance
Of low to medium importance; their presence indicates heating grain.
