Identification

Adults are 2–5 mm, long-legged, globular, and resemble a spider. Colour depends on the species. Antennae are long and hair-like. Larvae are scarabaeiform or C-shaped, with fully developed legs. 

Life Cycle

At the optimum temperature of 27 ℃, the life cycle can be completed in 61 days. Larvae are internal feeders and immobile when mature. Adults are long-lived, feed on commodities, and can fly.
