Distribution

A native species found in Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, and South Australia.

Habitat

Almost exclusively live on trees; found in forests, woodlands, urban and suburban gardens. During the day it sleeps in a nest or ‘drey’ made of leaves, grass, and shredded bark located in a tree hole, tree fork, or dense vegetation. 

Description

The head and body are approximately 30–35 cm long when grown, and the tail is approximately the same length. The fur is grey to black with white patches behind the eyes and the belly is cream-coloured.  The tail has a white patch at the tip over 25% of its length. 

Food and Feeding

Is nocturnal and eats leaves of native and non-native plants, as well as flowers and fruits. It eats its faeces to digest it twice and maximize the nutrients it can get.
