Distribution
Worldwide; introduced in Australia.
Description
This is one of the most important vector diseases in dogs worldwide. It feeds on a wide variety of mammal hosts but prefers dogs. It usually attaches itself to the head, ears, back, between toes, and axilla of the dog. This tick does not cause paralysis.
Diseases it may transmit:
Q fever, canine ehrlichiosis, canine babesiosis.
