Family: Termitidae
Type: Subterranean
Distribution
This genus is widespread across most of Australia. However, individual species within this genus might have more limited distributions. Interestingly, the entire genus seems to be missing from the southeastern tip of Australia.
Identification
Soldiers: 3.25-5.5 mm. Nasute. They have a distinctive head shape – constricted in the middle, right behind their antennae. Interestingly, some species even have two soldier sizes that look very similar. Because of these complexities, identifying individual species within this genus is best left to specialists.
